MANAGING YOUR RENTAL PROPERTY – FINDING A GOOD PROPERTY MANAGER

How Do You Find A Good Property Manager?

So you decided you don’t want to manage your own rental property . . . learning that you may not be cut out to manage rental property is a good thing!  It’s much better to find out now than when you find your self in a difficult situation because you didn’t know what you were doing!

Finding a good and reputable property manger isn’t as difficult as it may seem.  We recommend that you start by contacting your local Board of Realtors and get a list of managers from them.  If that doesn’t work or isn’t convenient, then Google for property managers: “property management any town, any state”.  A third option is personal referrals, contact your realtor friends or others who may know a property manager.

Once you have your list, visit their web site and then narrow the list to 2 or 3 and visit their place of business and interview them personally.  When you go for the interview, note how organized they seem to be . . . or not.  Then, ask questions to see if the two of you communicate well and on the same level and if you have the same values of money.  The right manager for your property will become apparent to you.

    Hello Pat and Kris,

This is a bit off topic but I was wondering if you have any knowledge or experience with online rent payment systems? I am currently researching different ways on tenants paying their rent online.

I really enjoyed your post because being in this field of work it is most important to have your business run properly. I also think having it ran in a sufficient way will keep everyone smiling 🙂 thanks for the tips and I look forward to hearing back from you!

    Pat and Kris,

I truly appreciated your email that lead me to the books you have wrote! I am especially interested in “Manage To Make Money . . . With a Career in Property Management”. It seems as if this book will help me get a fresh new look on the business that I have been in for years. I think we all need that as time!

I also would like to share that yesterday I met with a company that lets your tenants pay rent online http://payrentchex.com I know I mentioned this in my previous post, and actually meeting with someone that is an expert in this area made me feel more comfortable about making the big jump! My plan is to look deeper into this online rent payment system and also correlate it with the information in your book! I look forward to keeping in contact with you.
